Parking Ban Starts 1 a.m. Wednesday

Storm will bring strong wind gusts and a few inches of snow.

It's spring, there's light outside past 6 p.m., but Mother Nature hasn't gotten the message.

A winter storm is headed our way and is expected to bring anywhere from 1 to 4 inches of snow to Aquidneck Island.

As a result, Middletown Police have instituted a parking ban that goes into effect at 1 a.m. Wednesday.

The ban will last until 8 p.m. on Thursday.

The National Weather Service has issued wind and winter weather advisories for Newport County and is predicting gusts of up to 55 mph with the strongest winds from mid-morning to early Wednesday evening.

We could see a few downed tree limbs and isolated power outages.

The Public Works Department reminds residents to not deposit snow onto the street because it can make for hazardous driving conditions and that business and homeowners are responsible for clearing the sidewalks in front of their houses.
