Youths Apprehended from Clues Left on Facebook, Water Bottle

Middletown police reported the following incidents and arrests Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2010:

  • A 16-year-old youth was arrested Tuesday around 10 a.m. on a misdemeanor charge of alcohol possession by a minor. According to the arrest record, school officials had become suspicious after observing the youth drinking a clear liquid out of a water bottle and showing signs of "being extremely happy" during the school's on-site flu clinic. After the youth threw away the water bottle, school officials recovered the bottle and police tested it for alcohol. The substance inside allegedly tested positive for alcohol, according to the police arrest record.
  • Middletown police picked up a 15-year-old Middletown runaway around 9:15 p.m. Tuesday in Newport. According to the police report, investigators and a parent tracked the youth down by following clues left on Facebook postings.
  • Middletown police arrested Jayne E. Reffelt, 47, of 66 Malbone Road, Newport, on a misdemeanor charge of domestic disorderly conduct after police responded to a reported disturbance in progress around 8:32 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2010.
  • Antonio M. Andrade, 34, of 223 Rogers Lane, Middletown, was charged with a misdemeanor violation of a no contact order after police responded to a call regarding a domestic disturbance at his listed address around 5:30 p.m.
