Police Force Entry After Man Allegedly Breaks Into Middletown Home

The following arrest was reported by the Middletown Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

A Newport man was arrested Sunday (technically twice) after he allegedly broke into a 67-year-old Middletown man’s house twice in one day. Timothy Haslam, 54, of 60 Bliss Road, Newport was charged with a felony breaking and entering of a person over 60 and two counts of domestic disorderly conduct.

Haslam allegedly entered the house without permission and threatened a 42-year-old Newport woman. He reportedly tried to get the woman to go with him in his truck and when she refused, he allegedly threatened the man. The woman told police he has a history of violence. A 24-hour-pickup was issued out around 5:30 p.m out of the Middletown Police Department.

Police were called back around 9:25 p.m. that he had forced his way into the house again and made similar threats.

Newport police reported he would not come out of his house so they entered by force and took him into custody.
