Police Log: 5 More Arrests Reported From Holiday Weekend

The following arrest information was supplied by the Middletown police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Officers from the Middletown Police Department arrested five people over the long holiday weekend. Alleged offenses included disorderly conduct, assault and resisting arrest.

Woman charged with assault after punching man
Ariana L. Dejesus, 20, of 233 Gibbs Ave., Newport, was arrested around 9 a.m. Monday, May 30, on a misdemeanor charge of simple assault or battery. According to the arrest record, a local man reported to police on May 27 that Dejesus had allegedly punched him in the face in the Bank of America parking lot. The man told police that he was in the process of exchanging custody of his daughter with his ex-girlfriend when Dejesus, a friend of his ex-girlfriend, punched him while he sat in his car.

During an interview at the Middletown police station, Dejesus allegedly told police that she had punched the man because he had repeatedly threatened her on previous occasions and called her derogatory names and that she wasn’t going to take it anymore. She was ordered to appear at Second District Court on June 3 to answer the charge.

Disorderly conduct, resisting arrest
Michael F. Waters, 55, of 87 Annette Drive, Portsmouth, was arrested around 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 29, on misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. According to the arrest report, police responded to an argument at 179 Fayal Lane, where Waters was arguing with a neighboring resident over the property line and installation of a fence post. The neighbor claimed that Waters allegedly threatened him.

During questioning, Waters appeared intoxicated and allegedly took an aggressive stance with police, refused to give police his name at first and resisted arrest when police attempted to take him into custody. A no-trespassing order was issued against Waters for the neighboring property, police also reported.

Fugitive from justice
A 17-year-old male from Middletown was arrested around 7:32 p.m. Sunday evening on a misdemeanor fugitive from justice charge. According to the arrest report, a police officer stopped a car on Aquidneck Avenue after observing it swerve into the opposite lane. A background check of all parties inside the car showed that the youth, a passenger, had an active arrest warrant from Essex County, NJ, for a probation violation.  He was taken into custody to be extradited.

Man charged after cutting himself with razor
