Police Log: Threesome Arrested for Allegedly Burglarizing Middletown Home

The following information is based on Middletown Police Department arrest reports and does not indicate any convictions.

Two Newport teens and a 21-year-old man were arrested in late December for allegedly breaking and entering into a Middletown residence.

Kyle Tucker, 19, of 90 Girard Avenue, Newport, was arrested at approximately 8:30 p.m., Friday, Dec. 30, on charges of breaking and entering. The following day, two alleged accomplices were arrested as well.

Matthew W. Williams, 19, of 13 Kay Street, Newport, was arrested at approximately 1:30 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 31, and Stephen Wayne Sousa, 21, of no known permanent address, was arrested at approximately 7 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 31. According to the police report, the three men allegedly entered a home on Gossets Turn Drive on the night of Dec. 27 and stole numerous items with a total value of more than $3,000.

The residence’s owners reported that the allegedly stolen items included several flat-screen televisions, a bedroom safe, a video game system, watches, jewelry, passports, and two laptop computers. In addition, the owners allegedly found a black duffel bag in the kitchen containing a laptop, digital camera, and MP3 player belonging to the owners. Police reportedly found latent fingerprints on the items in the duffel bag.

Police subsequently received descriptions of a car that had been observed in the driveway of the home the night of the burglary, and police also allegedly observed items from the break-in in the back seat of a car that was involved in an accident on Burma Road.

According to the report, officers spoke to Tucker after he was arrested at the Newport Bridge Toll Plaza on Dec. 30 for possession of marijuana; the next day officers arrested his alleged accomplices.

Arrests for No-Contact Order Violations and DUI

  • Guy David Cloutier, 36, 5 Ryan Avenue, Bristol, was arrested at approximately 6:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 6, for violating a no-contact order. According to the police report, Cloutier allegedly followed a 25-year-old Middletown woman who was walking on Forest Avenue, allegedly beeping his horn and making threatening comments. Police verified the active no-contact order the alleged victim had against Cloutier, and located him later the same day at a pay phone.
  • Koraima Marie Espinet, 18, of 104 Rogers Lane, Middletown, was arrested at approximately 9 p.m., Friday, Jan. 6, for violating a no-contact order. According to the police report, Espinet allegedly entered the house of a 20-year-old Middletown resident who has a no-contact order against Espinet. Officers located Espinet at home and transpoted her to the police station.
  • James H. Walker, Jr., 21, of 21 Greenough Place, Newport, was arrested at 2 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 7, for driving under the influence. According to the police report, officers stopped his vehicle for speeding, and upon noticing the smell of alcohol, administered a field sobriety test.
