Police Logs: Driver Allegedly Vomited on Himself, Charged with DUI

The following arrests were reported by the Middletown Police Department. Arrests do not imply a conviction.

Benjamin Michaels, 22, of 11 Vickburg Pl., Newport, was arrested on Tuesday night around 1:30 a.m. on charges of driving under the influence.

Police reported they pulled Michaels over after he swerved across the road and almost hit the center island on Aquidneck Ave.  When he turned onto Valley Road, police said Michaels accelerated up to 60 mph on the opposite lane of travel.  They initiated a stop at Valley Road and John Clarke.

Police reported when they approached Michaels, they noticed that he had vomited on himself and his zipper was completely down.  He allegedly smelled of alcohol, his speech was slurred and his eyes were severely bloodshot.

Michaels reportedly told officers he had a shot before he left the bar, and that it did not go down right.

He allegedly lost his balance several times throughout the field sobriety tests.  Police brought him into custody and he agreed to a chemical test. Michaels registered a .146 and a .145.

Brad Hall, 19, of 18E Rolling Green was arrested on Tuesday around 8:30 p.m. on an active bench warrant.  Hall was the passenger of car that was pulled over for driving without its headlights illuminated.  Police conducted a routine search on the driver and passenger which returned the warrant.
