Texas Man Suspected of Stealing $9M From Employer Turns Himself In to Police
The following is based on reports from the Newport Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.
A Texas man suspected of stealing millions from his employer turned himself in to Newport police on Thursday afternoon.
Anthony Chiofalo, 51, of Oak Moss Trail, Spring, TX, surrendered himself to police around 2:12 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 20 on a fugitive from justice charge.
Chiofalo was wanted out of Harris County Texas for a felony warrant for aggravated larceny.

Police reports said Chiofalo came into the station wheeling a large black suitcase with between $100,000 to $125,000 in cash.
According to a report by KTRK-TV out of Houston last June, Chiofalo worked at Tadano America, a manufacturing company, until he was fired for allegedly stealing the money.

The report also said prosecutors believe a large amount of the stolen money was spent on comic books and collectibles.
Tadano allegedly stole the money by writing a series of checks to “Maio and Cardenas,” a fake law firm he had set up, totalling $9,329,546.81.
His bond was set at $18 million.
