Happy Ending for Middletown Water Rescue

The Middletown Fire Department rescued a man from the waters Thursday afternoon.

A 45-year-old man was successfully rescued from the waters off Second Beach  around 1:30 Thursday afternoon. He was brought to shore without injury, according to Middletown Fire Chief Ronald Doire.

"His board unattached from the kite, so the lifeguards called for emergency assistance," said Doire.  The Portsmouth Fire Department responded to Third Beach with their boat, but it was not deployed. Although the Coast Guard was also responding to the call, the Middletown Fire Department was able to pull him from the waters before they arrived.

"It was a happy ending," said Doire.
