Hurricane Danielle: Severe Surf and Rip Current Advisory

The National Weather Service warns of severe rip currents and high surf expected to reach south and southeastern-facing beaches beginning late Saturday night.

The National Weather Service on Saturday, Aug. 28, 2010 updated its hazardous surf and rip current advisory concerning south- and southeastern-facing Rhode Island beaches as Hurricane Danielle moves north through the Atlantic Ocean.

Beginning late Saturday, severe rip currents and increased surf swells are expected to begin and last through the middle of next week.

By Sunday at 8 am, Hurricane Danielle is projected to bypass Rhode Island about 1,000 miles off shore, bringing in waves as big as 6 to 8 feet high.
