Kayak Slot Rentals and Overnight Dry Camping May Come To Third Beach
Kayak and Dinghy slots and dry camping rentals may soon be introduced at Third Beach
Kayak/Dinghy Slot Rentals
In a similar program to the mooring rentals, kayak and dinghy owners may soon be allowed to rent space at for the season.
“It’s a good program,” said town administrator Shawn Brown on Monday during the first reading of the proposed ordinance.
The slots would first be made available to residents through a lottery system, explained Brown. Then a rental would be made available to non-residents who own a mooring.
A slot would not be transferable, with the exception of a surviving spouse.
A season pass would be $50 for residents and $100 for non-residents. The season would run between May 1 and November 1.

Brown also recommended an ordinance to permit overnight dry camping at the Third Beach Parking Lot.
“Dry camping means camping without the use of external hookups for electricity, water supply or waste disposal,” Brown said.
No individual would be allowed to camp for more than two consecutive days and more than five days in any one season, Brown explained. Eligible campers would be registered motor home and travel trailers. Tents and pop-up trailers would not be permitted under the proposal.
The season would run between June 1 and September 30. The cost would be $25 per day.
Council approved both readings of the proposed ordinances 5-0, with Councilors Christopher Semonelli and Edward Silveira absent.
