Open House Puts Town Facilities and Budget on Display

Residents are invited to an Open House this Wednesday at key town facilities to tour the departments and provide input on the town's budget process.

As part of the town’s efforts to get residents’ input on the upcoming FY2013 budget, an Open House is scheduled for this Wednesday, Jan. 25, from 3 to 8 p.m.

During that time, town administrators and officials will be on hand at the following facilities:

  • Town Hall, 350 East Main Road
  • Middletown Police Station, 123 Valley Road
  • Middletown Fire Department, 239 Wyatt Road
  • Middletown Public Works Department, 9 Berkeley Avenue
  • Middletown Senior Center, 650 Green End Avenue
  • Middletown Public Library, 700 West Main Road

“Representatives from various town departments will be on hand to give tours of town facilities, to answer questions and to listen to ideas, concerns or suggestions for the FY2013 budget. Copies of the current budget and capital improvement plan will be available for review,” according to a statement from the Town Administrator’s office.

The Open House is one of numerous events scheduled during the budget process, which is taking place for the next few months. During March and April, for example, sessions that focus on particular departments and funds within the municipal budget are scheduled, and are open to the public. On March 5, the Library budget will be discussed, and on March 26, the budgets for the Parks & Recreation Department and the Public Works Department will be discussed. The FY2013 budget is due to be approved in June; FY2013 begins July 1, 2012. A full schedule of events for the budget process is available at the town’s website, on the Town Clerk’s page.
