Potter League's "Heart & Sole" Fundraiser to Walk The Glen Sunday
A look at one of the Potter League's largest annual fundraiser happening this weekend, as well as June events and happenings involving the island's only animal shelter.
A very busy month and summer for the kicks off this weekend with the one of the non-profit animal shelter's largest annual fundraisers.
The walk for two- and four-legged participants at The Glen in Portsmouth begins at noon Sunday, June 5. The entry fee is $15 for individuals or $30 for families. Participants can choose from the one- or three-mile walk.
The Potter League's goal is to raise $82,000 toward the year-round sheltering of hundreds of thousands of stray and discarded animals that make their way through the shelter each year.

Walk with a team, on your own, with your favorite pet or in memory of one. Registration begins at 10 a.m.

Before new spring litters arrive this summer, the shelter is launching a big push to find new homes for cats of all ages. The goal is to adopt out 75 cats in June as part of "Adopt a Shelter Cat" month. Click here to see some of these adorable animals up close.

"Partners for Paws" teams up the Potter League and Clements' Marketplace in Portsmouth this month. For every purchase of specially marked products featuring "Partners for Paws" labels, Clements has pledged to donate a portion of sales to the animals.
The Potter League's "Camp Happy Tails" is offering two full-week sessions this summer in partnership with the Newport County YMCA.
A "Dog Days of Summer" event is scheduled for June 25. The event will include frisbee contests, digging contests, photos of owners and dogs, agility courses, and more. Dog-friendly dogs more than 8 weeks old and their owners are welcome. Pre-registration is required and the cost is $20 per dog. Contact training@potterleague.org for more information.
The Barking Crab Restaurant in Newport has a "round up" program in which guests can round up their check and the price difference gets donated to the Potter League to help the animals.
