As Islanders shake off two weeks of cabin fever and head outdoors this weekend, many will notice some unpleasant allergies taking hold.

This weekend's pollen count continues to head off the charts. Weather.com’s pollen count for Middletown is rating tree pollen counts at the top of its scale, or “very high,” and grass pollen as “high.”

Pollen.com's forecast showed the climb started on Thursday when it reached a medium-high intensity of 9.1 on a scale of 0-12, then inched higher Friday to 9.8. The pollen in the air was expected to soar Saturday to a 10.5 before tapering off again.
