7 p.m.: The Middletown Town Council has a regularly scheduled meeting in Town Hall, with agenda items including:

  • A presentation by the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management (RIDEM) regarding stormwater utility feasibility.  "RIDEM will be presenting the preliminary Feasibility Study for the Town's stormwater system and funding options," said Public Works Director Tom O'Loughlin. "This is the initial step in the process to determine the Town's funding sources for Stormwater System operations and capital improvements into the future." This summer, RIDEM completed a feasibility study with the town of Middletown by analyzing the town’s impervious coverage, using aerial photography to calculate driveway, rooftop, and parking lot coverage, parcel by parcel. A storm-water utility is an approach to managing storm-water runoff that has been adopted in many communities around the country, but not yet in Rhode Island.
  • A variety of consent items and a memorandum from the Town Administrator regarding fund balance policy in accordance with governmental accounting standards.

The complete docket for the Town Council meeting can be downloaded at the town's website.
