3 Ways Blogging on Patch Can Help Grow Your Business

Whether you just want to talk politics or want to write about topics that prove you’re a master in your field, the ability to publish your posts on Patch is really an asset to you and your business.

Ok, so this may seem a little biased because I used to work for Patch, but let me clarify that this is a completely unsolicited post and I’m not being forced to type against my will. This is something I preach all on my own because it can be very beneficial.

In all honesty, I still truly believe in the many great things that Patch offers to the community and local businesses. One of those great offerings I’m still a huge advocate for is Patch’s blogging platform. Whether you just want to talk politics or want to write about topics that prove you’re a master in your field, the ability to publish your posts on Patch is an asset.

Sure, Patch benefits by getting free content, but the return you (and your business) can get from using the platform is huge. Hence, my three top reasons why you should seriously consider posting your blogs on Patch.

  1. You Get A Built-In Audience
Anyone who is just starting a blog already knows that building a following for posts is going to take a while. A long while. The few people who even look at your posts when you start out are already your followers who are coming in through links you leave on sites like FacebookTwitter and Pinterest. Sure, there’s growth potential. But posting a blog on Patch (which has a built-in audience) can significantly increase your readership and the likeliness that total strangers will share the information you’ve posted, thus expanding your readership to an even larger audience.
  2. You Own Your Own Content
This is a big one. Many sites will let you post to them but they then retain the ownership over what you write, meaning that you no longer have the ability to post the same thing in several different publications. In the blogging terms on Patch, it clearly states that you get to keep what you write and that you have the freedom to re-post anywhere you please. Which leads me to the final and probably best benefit.
  3. Increase Your Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Visibility
Obviously it’s a rule of marketing to stay in front of your potential clients (the community for many small businesses) and you definitely do so by blogging on Patch. But Patch also ranks pretty darn high in SEO, which can benefit you too. By posting your blog on Patch and linking back to your own blog, website, Facebook, Pinterest, etc., you are actually increasing the validity and relevance of your own site which improves your own SEO. Of course there are other reasons why you should blog on Patch (like the fact that it’s super simple to do) but from a business standpoint, I’d have to say that the three reasons above should be more than enough to get you posting. Happy blogging! :-)
