MEC Dances the Blues Away at Annual Fundraiser

The Middletown Education Collaborative and the James Montgomery Band pulled out all the stops to heat up Saturday's cold winter's night to benefit Middletown Public Schools.

It may have been bitterly cold outdoors Saturday, but in the opulent surroundings of Salve Regina Unversity's Ochre Court, the heat was turned up as ticket holders for the Middletown Education Collaborative's 2nd Annual Winter Blues Bash danced the night away to the heart-pumping blues sounds of the James Montgomery Band.  With over 200 tickets sold, MEC volunteers were thrilled to announce that their mission, "to provide funding for unique and innovative enrichment opportunities in the ," would see another successful year.

MEC President Cris Offenberg, who happened to be quietly celebrating her birthday on the very same night, said that the bash "gives us an opportunity to come together as a community, old friends and new, to support our students and their teachers."

"Our schools are the heart of our community and tonight gives us a chance to celebrate them," she said.

James Montgomery, a long time friend to MEC, donated his musical talents to the event. Salve Regina University donated the space. Guests included Middletown parents, teachers, graduates, business owners and community supporters who tripped the light fantastic to support a worthy cause.
