MHS Artists Open Gallery to Public

Here's a look at what's happening at Middletown schools for the week of May 30-June 4.

CORRECTION: An earlier version of this story incorrectly stated that the Honor Society induction ceremony was to be held Thursday, June 2. The correct date is June 8. We apologize for any inconvenience.

As the school year winds down, special celebrations and presentations are in full swing, from a high school public art show to Capstone celebrations and the ASA Science Fair.

GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

  • No school Monday, May 30, in observance of Memorial Day.
  • The Middletown Public Schools Visual Arts Department will hold its at the Balfour Beatty Community Center with an opening reception on Wednesday, June 1 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. as well as an open gallery on Wednesday, June 1 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Thursday, June 2 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event is free and the public is invited to attend.
  • The Middletown Public Schools summer enrichment programs have been announced. See the attached program guide in the image gallery for details and registration information.
  • Registration for all new students not currently enrolled in Middletown Public Schools is open. To register, parents need to call the administration office at 849-2122 to make an appointment. The student does not need to be present. Appointments are available on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Registration forms can be found online.

MIDDLETOWN HIGH SCHOOL

  • Wednesday, June 1 is Capstone Project Celebration Day at MHS. All freshmen, sophomores, and seniors get treated to early dismissal.
  • Brown University’s high school summer program is now accepting applications. The program, open to all high school students, takes place July 5 to July 27.

GAUDET MIDDLE SCHOOL

  • All students in Grade 5 will take part in NWEA testing on Tuesday, May 31.
  • Mentors for the Moment will meet on Tuesday, May 31 and Thursday, June 2 after school in the GMS Library. Members of the MHS National Honor Society will be on hand to help students in grades 5 through 8 with homework. Computer access will also be available. Registration is required. AQUIDNECK SCHOOL

ALL SAINTS ACADEMY

  • Eighth graders embark on a class field trip to New York City on Wednesday, June 1 and Thursday, June 2.
  • The ASAP! Science Fair will be held on Friday, June 3 at 6 p.m.
