Campbell's Tennis First Round Results, Second Round Order of Play

Here's a look at yesterday's winners and today's matches.

The first round of the Campbell's Hall of Fame Tennis Championships kicked off Monday, featuring great matches and an enthusiastic crowd of fans enjoying the Fourth of July holiday in Newport.

In the first match on No. 5 Alex Bogomolov, Jr. defeated Mischa Zverev. Bogomolov has had a solid season this year, defeating then world No. 5 Andy Murray in Miami in March and advancing to the third round at Wimbledon. Appropriate for Independence Day, fans threw their support behind young American Donald Young, who advanced to the second round with a win over Paul Capdeville of Chile.

Last year's finalist Olivier Rochus defeated Greg Jones. Rochus is one to watch, having advanced to Newport's semi-finals in 2009 and the finals in 2010. The tournament's No. 2 seed and the second youngest player in the world top-100, Grigor Dimitrov, defeated last year's quarter-finalist Brian Dabul. In the closest match of the day, Matthias Bachingerof Germany defeated countryman Dustin Brown, 7-6(7), 6-7(5), 6-1. Qualifying rounds concluded today with Jimmy Wang, Alex Bogdanovic, Michael Yani, and Richard Bloomfield, who was a semi-finalist last year advancing to the Main Draw.

Tuesday Match-Ups

Tuesday's action offers fans a lot to look forward to as well. First up, the world's fastest server Ivo Karlovicwill take on wild card Denis Kudla, a rising star young American. Next match on will be No. 1 seed and fan favorite John Isner, who will face Karol Beck. Following that match, Ryan Harrison, a popular, rising star young American who advanced to the Newport quarter-finals last year will take on veteran ATP World Tour pro Arnaud Clement. Closing out the day on center court, wild card Tommy Haas of Germany, a former world No. 2, will face countryman Michael Berrer.

On Court 1, Nicolas Mahut, who reached the final here in 2007, takes on Argentine Sebastian Decoud for the first time. No. 3 seed Igor Kunitsyn of Russia and No. 4 Ryan Sweeting of the U.S. are also in action.

Doors open at 10 a.m., and matches will begin at 11 a.m. Topping off the tournament play, fans of all ages are invited to enjoy free lessons offered by the United States Professional Tennis Association from 12 pm - 5 pm. Lessons are free for ticket holders and will be offered on a first come, first served basis. Proper shoes are required.
