Common Fence Point Announces Race Winners, Top Speeds

The following is a list of winners from this past weekend's Common Fence Point Race, which was held to benefit the PHS Booster Club.

Several Middletown runners placed high among top finishers in Sunday's seventh annnual Common Fence Point road races.

The 5 Mile race and 3 Mile Fun Run was held Sunday in the Common Fence Point area of town. Dozens turned out to help raise money for the Portsmouth High School Music Boosters.

Below is a list of winners based on age categories, as well as special award winners. The results were provided by Organization Plus, road race management services.

Top Three

The top three racers with the best times were Andrew Sabourin of Barrington, with a time of 29:52; Dan Murphy of Little Compton, 30:51; and Nick Tyler of Portsmouth, 32:01.

Special Awards

Special awards went to Joey Maiato of  Little Compton, 32:48; Kelly Daniel of Portsmouth, 33:56; Peter Wattles of Walpole, MA, 35:51; and Ellen Foley of Providence, 39:40.

Overall Best Male and Female Runners

The best time overall of the male runners went to Sabourin. The best time for a female runner went to Heather Crosby of Providence, who had a time of 33:52.

Best in Age Categories:

Ages 1-18:

In the age category of up to 18 years old, the best times for males were Tyler, Maiato and Patrick Brennan of Barrington, who had a time of 44:59.

For the female category up to age 18 years old, the top times went to Katie Murray of Scituate, MA, with 41;52; Katerena Lucier of Portsmouth, 43:08; and Emily Graca of Berkley, MA, 48:02.

Ages 19-29:

For the male category, top times went to Brian Govednik of Bristol, 32:34; Arthur Tyler, Portsmouth, 32:56; and John Godoy, Middletown, 33:21.

For female age category, 19-29, winners were Sarah Thomas, Providence, who had a time of 37:05; Beth Paquette, Tiverton, 40:02; and Jessica Bradley, Newport, 42:34.

Ages 30-39:

For the age group, 30-39, best times for runners went to Daniel Kelly of Portsmouth, 33:56; Michael Holtman of Newport, 35:35; and Graham Powers of Middletown with a time of 36:55.

For the female age group, 30-39, top speeds went to Cheryl Coelho of Portsmouth, 38:41; Kelly Powers of Middletown, 40:18; and Sarah Robinson of Providence, 41:15.

Ages 40-49:

Leading the runners in the male age group, 40-49, were Edward Fitzpatrick of Providence with a time of 32:57; Craig Duffin, Pawtucket, 33:32; and Kenny Bager, Warwick, 33:46.

For female runners, Madalena Boudreau of Fall River, MA, 35:01; Ellen Foley of Providence, 39:40; and Anne Francis of Dedham, MA, 40:03.

Ages 50-59:

Best male times went to Dan Murphy of Little Compton, 30:51; Nicholas Tsanotelis of Milton, MA, 32:21; and Mike Proto of Bristol, 34:21.

For females, best times went to Pat LaChance of Seekonk, MA, with 39:08; Cecilia Vallee of Bristol, 39:49; and Cynthia Wentworth of Little Compton, 40:04.

Ages 60-69:

Best male runners were Bill Andrade of New Bedford, MA, with 33:31; Jim Morrin of North Attleboro, MA, 35:22; and David Pember of Medfield, MA, 37:01.

Best female runners in this category were Stephanie Lacourse of East Greenwich with 45:17; Nina Pinnock of Little Compton, 58:30; and Nancy Sorrell of Warwick, 1:01:44.


Ages 70-99:

Best male runners in this age category were Harry Carter of Blackstone, MA, with a time of 39:56, and Victor Haddad of Somerset, MA, with 1:09:31.

There were no female runners in this category.
