The Seahawks soared over California Maritime 22-15 in Glendale, Colo.

The Seahawks men’s rugby team took home the National Small College Rugby Organization (NSCRO) National Championship on Sunday after defeating California Maritime 22-15 in Glendale, Colo.

According to a press release from Salve Regina University Athletics, this is the Seahawks' second straight appearance in the NSCRO championships. Salve previously lost in the semifinals against Longwood.

The Seahawks traveled almost 2,000 miles to Infinity Park in Colorado for the NSCRO playoffs and advanced to the championship after winning their match on Saturday against Franciscan University, 29-20.

Winning the New England Rugby Football Union (NERFU) title 22-19 over Tufts and the Region 1 - NorthEast championship 34-33 over Molloy last November earned the team a bid to the NSCRO nationals.

The Seahawks also captured the Rhody Cup earlier this April, defeating Boston University and Bryant University.
