Scots to Bring 'Secret Weapon' At This Weekend's Polo Match

Scotland makes its celebrated return to Newport this season to compete against USA.

 

Scotland makes its celebrated return to Newport this season to compete against USA in the Newport International Polo Series this Saturday, June 15, at 5 p.m. 

The Scottish team will make its 10th appearance in the polo series, defending its glorious 2012 victory against USA.

“The Scots have brought a secret weapon each year, and we will be on our guard,” stated Dan Keating, captain of the USA team.

"Polo is an international sport, played in over 80 countries around the globe, and we are honored to have teams traveling great distances to play in Newport."

A following of Scottish fans from throughout the region has grown each year in attendance at the match, wearing kilts and waving "the Saltire" St. Andrews cross in lively support of their fellow countrymen.

A weekly door prize drawing as well as a prize for the Best Tailgate will be awarded during the match. 

The 2-hour match will conclude with a champagne trophy presentation of the USA vs. Scotland silver cup, inaugurated in 2004, as well as the naming of the Best Playing Pony, autograph signing and cocktail hour to mingle with the players.

Gates open for polo at 4 p.m. at Glen Farm.
