Celebrate Earth Day at The Norman Bird Sanctuary

The Norman Bird Sanctuary has a full schedule of Earth Day events.

Looking for ways to get involved and celebrate Earth Day this weekend? The has you covered.

Here is what they have in store for this Saturday, April 21:

Yoga in the Wild (8:30 to 10 a.m.)
During this class, Jessica Webb from Anchor Yoga will be taking participants deep into the five elements of nature: earth, water, fire, space, and air.
The class is $12 per person. Call Jessica at 401-662-9557 or email getgrounded@anchoryoga.com to register.

Third Beach Clean-up and Picnic Lunch (11 a.m. to Noon)
Gloves and trash bags will be provided by the sanctuary. Doors open at 10:30 a.m.at the Third Beach Education Center to give participants time to tour this new facility and learn about upcoming plans.

After the clean-up, participants are invited to a picnic on the beach or hike on the sanctuary’s trails free of charge.  

Live Hawk Presentation (Noon)
The presentation will take place at the main campus with Education Coordinator Rachel Holbert.

Sustainability Workshop (1 to 3 p.m.)
To conclude the day the Norman Bird Sanctuary will be holding Sustainability for Everyone, an interactive presentation and discussion. This workshop will offer insight into how you can live more sustainably to promote a healthy, thriving community and planet, says the sanctuary.

Presented by Americorps OSEEC member Erica Thompson, the workshop will feature a do-it-yourself activity, a comprehensive resource list, and will finish with a brief introduction to the newly incorporated, non-profit group Sustainable Aquidneck.
