Holiday DUI Crackdown in Full Force

The State Police warn drivers not to get behind the wheel if they drink while partying this holiday season.

If you raise a cup of cheer to celebrate the holiday, hand the keys to someone else.

The Rhode Island State Police will be watching for drunk drivers and aggressively targeting those who may be impaired. There will be extra patrols around the state this weekend and through the holidays targeting aggressive driving, seat belt and child restraint violations, texting violations and especially impaired drivers, the State Police announced.

Drunk driving arrests often increase around the holidays, partly because revelers hopping from one family gathering to another don't always realize that glass of wine or two at each stop adds up. Monitor your alcohol consumption while partying and if you've been drinking, hand over the keys.
