It says Around Town but the headline is UTAH. Utah is not near Natick!! I think everyone should notRead More open an article on Patch unless they see their town's name in the headline. So If it doesn't say Natick, then we all know it is not LOCAL to the Natick Patch. The less clicks these Patch sites get, the fewer advertisers they will get and then perhaps they will realize if we want sensational news from across the country we'd go back to Patch's former owners AOL and the HuffPost! Those here from other Patch sites - I think you should do the same only click on articles that mention your community's name. No name. No click!

The entire state can sink for all I care. Maybe it will clean out the Dirtbags in the State HouseRead More if the water rises high enough. Unfortunately I think they know how to swim as they eat enough Jumbo Shrimp and Calamari. Scott Guthrie looks like a Walrus so he should have no trouble swimming around that Cesspool.

Amazing, 4 years to the date when NK had the last flooding episode. Now that the dam at Feather BedRead More Lane is being fixed after 4 years, the powers to be should seriously consider a partial breach of that dam and the dam at Route 1A because of the amount of water coming out of Bellville Pond. It would seriously help all of the people along that water shed to know that the river is draining and the street drains are working.

Great news! This will surely help lower property taxes in Middletown. WTF? Aquidneck Land TrustRead More and all other people getting a discount on their land all need to pay their fair share of taxes to reduce the tax burden on the regular citizens of this town. NO ONE should be getting discounts...NO ONE!

the drought in California is caused by environmentalists who diverted the water to save a tiny fish.Read More The water isn't getting to the farmers anymore. This is the beginning of shutting the farms down Agenda 21 ? Will all of this land be taxed? Wait and see the restrictions these environmentalists will impose. Its all about control and trying to force everyone into the area where they want humans to live. It is evil.

Please close down RIBTA. This is part of what's wrong with RI. A system where taxes fuelRead More administrative expenses, and where people get jobs based on political patronage. People need to stop sucking off of others
B/STOCK March 19, 2014 at 04:41 pm
Kevin Carty: Why don't you tell us how you really feel! Good post! A little strong but true and toRead More the point. I like that. All of the posters that complain about the RI government should be at the state house protesting not at the bridge site. This is really not a bridge thing it's a state problem. Another election coming up. Are the majority going to vote for the bums that put us in this position? Been doing it for years so why be surprised we have to toll this bridge. No one complains when we have ozone alert days and busses are free. That $$ comes from the RI bridge & turnpike authority. Just think that every time you pay a toll someone gets a free bus ride. The state announces the creation of another nightmare social service agency and no one complains. As I stated in previous posts I believe the state has been very fair to the people of the island with the tolling rate structure. Either elect new officials or get ready for more tolls and taxes. I don't mean to sound sharp but our state is in big trouble.
B/STOCK March 19, 2014 at 04:45 pm
My Previous post on the subject. I think the toll is fair. It addresses the needs of the people onRead More the island by only charging them a meager sum to cross the bridge & only charges once per 24 hour period. This covers delivery vehicles etc. that cross the bridge multiple times per day. The infrastructure is in place for the tolls so let's do it. I know island residents will say the state is state is going to nickel & dime them to death and for the most part they are correct. I am a resident of Barrington and I use the bridge when traveling to Newport. (RT195 to RT24). I find paying the toll saves me more time and gasoline that a trip down Rt114 & RT136. Let me be clear. I hate tolls, taxes, surcharges, & government waste. Even the 1% meals tax infuriates me. The only thing that is worse is living in a state that is dead last in everything except unemployment. There we are #1. Let's face it, we are broke. The rest of the country hears about RIs plight and until these matters are addressed our property values will go down or not rise at a normal rate because who is going to move to a crooked broke state with a bad reputation. Until we get rid of the legislators that cave to unions and special interests we will have more taxes and tolls. For now we just have to make sure the toll monies go into a separate fund to repair the roads and not the dark hole called the general fund. Don't want tolls? Get rid of the waste by electing new legislatures that are up to the task. I guess people oppose the toll but are OK with the union contracts, welfare fraud, food stamps, fake disabilities, incarcerated inmates getting their pensions etc. Why no outcry there? Until we fix those problems we will have more tolls and taxes. Let's just suck this one up and make sure the money goes toward road repair.
