Voters to Face $7.5 Million Bond Referendum for Fire Station Renovations

Middletown Town Council approved to put a $7.5 million bond referendum on November’s ballot for the renovations of the existing fire station and the former police station

In a special meeting held on Wednesday night, Middletown Town Council approved to put a $7.5 million bond referendum on November’s ballot for the renovations of  the existing fire station as well as the former police station, for the public works department. The motion passed with a 5-0 vote; Councilor Christopher T. Semonelli and Edward Silveira were absent. The project, which was first contemplated in 1999, considered the option to build a new station near the new police station on Valley Road. The administration recommended to keep the current location after Vanasse Hangen Brustlin, Inc. Middletown's Two-Year Public Works Project Begins

The reconstruction of roadways, sewer lines and stormwater drains was approved by voters in November 2010 through a $2 million bond referendum.

Middletown’s two-year project that voters approved in November to reconstruct aging roads and stormwater drains on Valley Road and within the Continental Village neighborhood is getting underway this week. Residents and business owners along Valley Road between Griffin Road and Goldenrod Drive can expect to see the first major phase of road repairs and stormwater drains to begin immediately. Earlier this week, work crews began making preliminary cuts into the asphalt on Valley Road before beginning the more extensive roadwork and excavation, according to Town Engineer Warren Hall. The project will progress along Valley Road at a rate of about 80 feet per day, Hall said. The work is part of a $2 million bond approved by voters in November …
