Middletown Firefighters 'Care Enough to Wear Pink'

Middletown firefighters are raising funds and awareness to help support women battling all types of cancer.

The Middletown Fire Department will join firefighters throughout Rhode Island in wearing pink shirts while on duty from Oct. 23-29 to support women battling all types of cancer. "As part of 'Cares Enough to Wear Pink,' we selflessly put our women first in the battle against cancer," Middletown Fire Department Chief Ronald Doire said in a prepared announcement. "We wear pink, not because it is the color of a disease, but because it is 'her' color.  We wear her color to let her know we care!" Last year, the Rhode Island State Association of Fire Fighters and the state Chiefs Association adopted the “Cares Enough to Wear Pink” campaign.
