Town Awards Contract, Culvert Construction and Road Closures to Begin

In early October, roads will close from the intersection at Indian and Third Beach roads to the triangle at Sachuest Point Road near Hanging Rock. Police intend to enforce road closures with fines.

A project to replace old culverts near Hanging Rock and subsequent road closures on Sachuest Point will get underway by early October, with hopes of wrapping up construction by mid-November,  said Public Works Director Tom O'Loughlin. Green Acres Landscape and Construction last week won the contract for the project with their submitted bid of $189,232. One hundred percent of the remodel will be paid for with money from the Middletown's general fund, according to town officials. "Two of the culverts have lived their useful life and they simply need to be replaced," said O'Loughlin. Culverts are the concrete structures that allow water to channel under the roads.
