Good Point Denis. I have often wondered why the no contact orders are not issued to both parties. All to often the person being protected by these orders are found to be in the company of the person they say they need protection from. I find this especially troubling when the victim transports themselves to the "perps" home or are driving around town with them in their car.   more ›

Local Officers Ask Bikers to Ride for the Fallen

A motorcycle ride in Middletown will help raise money for fallen police officers. Civilians and officers are encouraged to participate in the event on Sept. 9.

On Sept. 9, for the second year in a row,  two Aquidneck Island police officers will bring a national event to a local level.   Every May, thousands of police officers sweat through the 300-mile, four day, Police Unity Tour, which is a bicycle ride from Florham Park, N.J. to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, D.C.   The event honors police officers who fell in the line of duty. Although that ride is only open to police officers, Lt. Mike Faria of the Middletown Police Department and Officer Joe Carroll of Newport, have organized a motorcycle ride that joins civilians and officers together, to raise awareness and money for the cause right here in Rhode Island. “Everyone is welcome,” said Faria. The ride will start…

On the last line......when I see a big dog salavating and looking very ferocious.............I instinctively RUN for my life. Since they all originate from the wolf, I trust no dog, even the ankle biter. It's a man made animal imo, so I'll stick with cats.......at least I can put a band-aid on a cat bite.   more ›
