Bridge jumper clings to crustacean cluster: A man who jumped from the Jamestown Verrazzano Bridge Saturday night got another chance at life after surviving the 135-foot fall. The Jamestown Harbormaster received a call that a man had jumped from the bridge's center span and into Narragansett Bay around 8:30 p.m. He found the man clinging to a mass of mussels and calling "help me, help me." According to rescue personnel, the man did not break any limbs in the fall but most likely sustained internal injuries. Woman uses train tracks as personal parking lot: A Hopkinton woman was arrested around 8:45 p.m. on Aug. 30, for drunk driving after police were dispatched to the train tracks near Admiral Kalbfus Road in Newport for a report of a …

A Fall River, MA, man is accused of leaving not one, but two motor vehicle crashes on the same day. Tyler Nadeau, 21, of Fall River, was arrested on Aug. 4 at 11:30 a.m. by Middletown police after allegedly leaving the scene of two accidents in both Portsmouth and Middletown. Police first received a report of a minor motor vehicle crash on West Main Road at Mill Lane in Portsmouth. The vehicle, operated by Nadeau, left the scene until he became involved in a second crash on Olphiant Lane in Middletown. The vehicle also left this scene before being stopped by Middletown police. Nadeau is being charged with leaving the scene of an accident in both towns.

Disorderly Conduct Patrick Cheever, 32, of 2 O’Donnell Way was arrested on Saturday, July 7 around 1:20 a.m. after a fight broke out in the parking lot of Brewski’s at 10 Maple Ave. Police said a verbal fight between approximately 15 people escalated to a physical level. According to police reports, Cheever appeared to be the most violent individual in the fight. He was allegedly trying to throw people out of the way in order to get to a male who was yelling on the porch. To identify themselves, police said they yelled “Police! Put your hands behind your back!” Cheever allegedly continued to fight despite multiple attempts police made to stop Cheever from fighting. Two single vehicle accidents occured this weekend that resulted in arrests reported by the Middletown Police Department: Joseph Medeiros, 65, of 74 Continental Dr. was arrested Saturday around 11:37 p.m. after police responded a single vehicle accident which had completely overturned in the roadway on the intersection of East Main Road and Valley Road. Police said when they arrived on-scene, the vehicle had appeared to have hit a telephone pole, and both the car and the pole had incurred substantial damage. According to the police report, Medeiros said he was coming from Rusty’s Bar where he had consumed many beers. After being treated at the Newport Hospital, Medeiros was told to report to the police station. He was cited with a DUI, …

A Middletown couple was charged with Social Host Ordinance 130.01B after Middletown Police said they served alcohol to minors at a good-bye party they organized for a friend who was soon to be deployed to Afghanistan. Police responded to the residence of James Phelan, 22, and his wife Alexandra Elvin, 21, at 112A Lawrence St., at approximately 1:00 a.m. on Tuesday, after they received a complaint about the noise and possible under-age drinking. Phelan allegedly told officers that he knew some individuals were under the age of 21, but he did not think it was a problem since he had organized a sober ride home for the guests. Man Charged with DUI with Two Children in Car Robert Decker, 61, of Los Angeles, was arrested on Sunday morning at approximately 1:54 a.m. on a DUI charge. Police said Decker did not have his headlights on, was driving erratically and drove up on the curb. A ten year-old and a 6 year-old child were reportedly asleep in the back seat of the car. Decker reportedly told police he had been at a wedding at Castle Hill and had two glasses of wine. Police reported he later said he had three glasses of wine. Police said during the sobriety tests, Decker was unsteady on his feet and swayed back and forth. Brian Souza, 30, and Seth Medeiros, 25, both of Fall River were arrested Saturday afternoon around 3:45 p.m. after they said they rented the bikes from a man at Second Beach who was wearing a top hat. The bicycles had been reported stolen from Surfers' End an hour earlier. An officer spotted Souza and Medeiros riding the two 21 speed Outpost’s near East Main Road and Island Drive. Souza told the officer he had rented the bicycles for fifteen dollars for four hours from a man who wore a top hat. When the officer asked what he meant by a top hat, he reportedly said, “a hat like Gilligan would wear.” Police searched the area but could not find a man that fit the description. Jessica Lalli, 25, of 134 Harrison Ave., Newport, was arrested Tuesday evening around 5:40 p.m. on DUI charges after she allegedly lost control of her vehicle and crashed into three new Jeep Wranglers at Clare Dodge on West Main Road. Police reported her passenger had a severe laceration near her mouth and was unable to speak before she was treated by the Middletown Fire Department. Lalli broke her leg and arm in the accident. Her passenger said that she was operating recklessly due to “road rage.” She also told police Lalli had been drinking but refused to let her drive. At the hospital, police said Lalli did not remember many details of the accident. She told police she had one shot at about 11:30 that morning after her grandfather…

Jessica Rivera, 24, 705 North Broadway, East Providence was arrested on Friday afternoon around 4:42 p.m. on a felony charge of embezzlement. On Friday, April 9, 2010, The owner and manager of her employer, McDonalds on West Main Road filed a complaint after they discovered that a deposit in the amount of $1799.67 had not been made to Citizen’s Bank after she took possession of the money on Wednesday, April 7. The manager called to inquire about the deposit when she reportedly told him she had made it ten minutes earlier. When the manager called her back, he said her number was disconnected. Thomas Welby, 40, of 765 Jepson Ln, was arrested on Friday night around 11:07 p.m. on charges of disorderly conduct after he yelled and raised a fist at an officer. Police said they followed Welby after they clocked him traveling at 47 mph in a 25 mph zone on Coddington Highway. They said he turned left onto West Main Road and then made a sudden turn into the Blue Plate Diner parking lot. Welby allegedly exited his car and yelled and cursed at the officer.
