A father and son were arrested recently after allegedly stealing handguns and $25,000 worth of jewelry from a Portsmouth residence. David Welch, 41, of Bristol, and his son, Justin Welch, of Middletown, are both being charged with breaking and entering, and larceny. The arrest stems from an incident that occurred on Dec. 26 on Mitchell's Lane. Portsmouth police say thieves broke into the home and stole jewelry and firearms. More than $25,000 in jewelry was reportedly stolen from the residence. An investigation led to the father and son, according to police. A search of the father's home resulted in detectives finding several of the missing weapons and jewelry. Portsmouth police issued arrest warrants for both men. Bristol police …

Four people were transported to local hospitals Wednesday after a head-on crash on West Main Road.
Updated at 2:57 p.m. Four people were injured Wednesday morning after a head-on collision before 5:30 a.m. on West Main Road near King's Grant. Four people were injured, including one person with "very serious injuries" still trapped inside the vehicle when crews arrived. The collision involved four-vehicles, according to a press release from the Portsmouth Police Department. According to the press release, a 2001 Volkswagen Jetta was operating northbound on West Main Road when it crossed over the double yellow lines and sideswiped a 2006 Toyota Solara. A total of three people were transported by ambulance following a motor vehicle crash Saturday morning at the intersection of West Main Road and Union Street.
Three people were transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital Saturday morning following a rollover crash on West Main Road at Union Street. A silver, Toyota RAV4 landed on its driver's side around 11:08 a.m. at the corner of West Main Road and Redwood Road, just across from Union Street. Gathering on the corner, neighbors watched as residents quickly came to the aid of the victims. Before emergency crews arrived, at least a half dozen people could be seen directing traffic at the busy intersection, as well as standing on top and around the rolled-over van, talking to the two adult victims trapped inside. David Welch is a pathetic excuse for a parent and a man…..AND HE KNOWS IT!!!! He should have been in jail years ago, but he worked with the ###### PD and got off while everybody he knew went to jail.
