On the article VIDEO: Coyote Believed To Have Attacked, Injured Family's English Bulldog

ReplyLuckily for the Canario's the injuries sustained were "minor". It's sad to hear stories like this, but on an Island where officials talk the talk, but fail to walk the walk, what did you expect? All you can do is try your best to protect your families and loved ones the best you can. Do not leave that task in anyone else's hands, because you will be disappointed. Good luck to Bentley healing and the rest of the Canario family.

ReplyReal intelligent Wile E. Yet another user of Patch that cannot use their real name because they make the most ridiculous comments here. I have a daughter and a nephew that attends Gaudet. I, like other parents who received word of the lock-down are worried sick about our and other kids safety and well-being right now. Please keep your idiotic comments to yourself.

Reply"I like coyotes but they belong in the wild not a city or province where people reside."
I don't think this is the issue. The issue is why not tranquilize them and relocate them to the wilderness/mountains to live? We have a problem so we shoot to kill? No one wants residents or their pets to be harmed. No one is saying let the coyotes move in with you. How about we try to solve the problem where all parties win, including the coyotes? Is that really difficult to figure out?

ReplyWhat ever happened to tranquilizing wildlife and relocating them to the wilderness/mountains? I completely understand the issues of safety for residents and their children, and there precious little poodles, but I have yet to hear of any attempt to decrease the coyote population other then shooting and killing them.

ReplyAndrea, I am so happy to read this story. I was in attendance on that night shooting photos and witnessed the incident up close. I was, as well as everyone in attendance, scared. Hockey is one of the fastest paced most dangerous games played, as well as the most exciting. I know first hand that the injuries imposed in the sport can also result as the worst. So hearing that Mac is OK is great news.
God bless you for being a strong, supportive and caring mother and woman. Kudos to the medical trainers and others involved at the rink that took precaution by stabilizing Mac's neck and back from the get-go. Great care was given to him from the beginning, as well as opposing fans giving their blankets and flags to help keep Mac warm while laying on the ice waiting on rescue to arrive. -

You are correct Dan. The opening date was held last night at the PHS gym. Tiverton defeated Middletown 63 - 46, and Rogers defeated Portsmouth in OT, 69 - 67.
To say the Championship and consolation games are Friday is misleading. Middletown will play Rogers @ 11 a.m. and Tiverton will face Portsmouth @ 1 p.m. If it were a championship matchup, Rogers would be playing Tiverton, and Middletown would play Portsmouth in a consolation game, which is not the case.
Lets call it a friendly holiday tournament between neighboring towns that has no impact on the official league standings. It was a great time Tuesday night and big crowds were in attendance to support these boys and their schools. Come out and show your support Friday, again at the PHS gym.

I think we should be grateful that we are not a town or community that has to open publications everyday to read about 2 homicides occurring overnight or a teen being raped or a church arson. What is news to one may not be of interest to another. It may no have an impact on one's life, but it may on another's. This story involves a small business, a family owned business in OUR community, so it is news, local news. Editors and journalists alike are doing their jobs. They are keeping the community informed. Can every single resident and reader be accommodated and satisfied at every moment in every news event that is reported? Absolutely not. But I for one would rather read this news over gangs, drive-by's and innocent people being killed in the cross-fire from illegal arms in our community. Just my 2 cents.

So because it's 2012, it's appropriate for kids to be grinding at a dance? These are 14-18 year old KIDS. Key word there, KIDS. I blame the parents who let their children act in this manner. It's disgusting. Yes, it's 2012, and teen pregnancy is at an all-time high. But that must be alright too, being that it is 2012, right? Did I miss the memo where this is socially accepted now? How about parents start owning up to their kids and their actions? This is our future. Get them out from in front of the tv, the PS3, Wii and especially facebook and twitter. Instill how much an education is worth now a days. Acting in this sexual manner while at a school function is wrong in so many ways. For those who condone this, you are wrong as well.
As far as releasing the kids without notifying their parents to pick them up, that in itself is a huge issue. I'd like to know who's call this was and where in the world they got the idea that this action was acceptable.
